A successful two day military sale at C&T Auctioneers!

Great prices were realised here at C&T Auctioneers on Wednesday 8th & Thursday 9th July, in our Fine Arms, Armour & Militaria Auction. Bidding wars left buyers battling it out for a number of prized lots, which you can read about in the article below.

What happened on Day 1?

During day 1 we saw the sale of 574 lots, including a vast selecton of badges & insignia, ephemera and antique guns. 

Notable mentions on day 1 include:

Lot 4 - 'Regimentally Important Waterloo Medal to a Surgeon in the 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot accompanied by his pocket diary for the year 1815'. Hammer £9,800

Lot 75 - 'The impressive Second World War MBE, with later Kings Police Medal, Police long service group of 8 to the Assistant Chief Constable of the Norfolk Constabulary'. Hammer £1,100

Lot 386 - 'Special Air Service (S.A.S) Parachute Qualification Wing'. Hammer £680

Lot 419 - 'Historically Fascinating Personal Handwritten Account of the Battle of the Nile'. Hammer £500

Lot 420 - 'Potential Handwritten Letter from Admiral Horatio Nelson'. Hammer £1,600

Lot 529 - 'Cased Pair of 16 bore flintlock duelling pistols by Manton Nos. 2980'. Hammer £3,100

What happened on Day 2?

During day 2 we sold lots 575 to 962, closing the second half of the auction with a great collection of headdress, alongside Imperial/WW1 and WW2 German Militaria, including Third Reich items.

Notable mentions on day 2 include lots: 

Lot 641 - 'WW2 British Airborne Fibre Rim Paratroopers Steel Helmet, 1942'. Hammer £2,900

Lot 674 - 'Sinking of the Bismark, RNAS interest: Pilots Flying log book and personal photograph album named and belonging to Lieutenant (A) Alan Owensmith Royal Navy who was present at the swordfish torpedo attack against the German Battleship Bismarck'. Hammer: £4,200 

Lot 717 - 'Third Reich Deutsche Reichsbahn Alpaka Silverware'. Hammer: £1,600

Lot 905 - 'Waffen-SS Double Decal Steel Combat Helmet'. Hammer: £8,200
