Buying at auction has become very easy over the last few years with the progression of live Internet bidding. Although it is great to come to the auction room, handle the lots and take part in the process of bidding live and battling with other bidders to buy the next item for your collection, we know it is not always easy to attend due to work or distance issues.

All viewing for webcast and auctions held at our offices is by appointment only, please call our office for details. 

Registration

In order to be able to bid with us you will need to have setup an account on our website for live bidding. Bidding in the room will require you to give us your name, address and you may have to provide ID. 

Ways to bid

Are you interested in buying at auction but do not understand how it works. This easy step by step guide will talk you through the process of bidding at our auctions.

  1. A buyers premium of 22% + VAT (26.4% inclusive) is added to the hammer price.
  2. Bidding online, you can bid live or leave a bid through the online catalogue available on our website or on the-saleroom.com (additional surcharge 4.95% plus VAT of the hammer price).
  3. Bids may be placed via telephone and a member of our team from C&T Auctioneers will bid on a buyers behalf. Please make sure all telephone bids are booked within 24 hours of the auction date. Telephone bids are only accepted for items with an estimate of £100 + We will call you four to five lots prior to the lot being offered for auction. There is no charge for telephone bidding. C&T Auctioneers cannot guarantee that all telephone requests will be honoured due to the rising demand for telephone bidding, it may be impossible to have a line available, we cannot be held responsible for any missed calls due to human or technical errors.

 

After the sale

Once the auction has been concluded, invoices will be emailed to all winning bidders, this will include a postal quote, if we are able to ship the items. If we are not able to ship, we will include details of the companies we recommend for shipping.

All successful bids are subject to buyers premium, this is charged at 22% + VAT (26.4% inclusive) for buyers in the auction room or bids left with the auctioneer pre-sale. Buyers bidding live on the C & T auctioneers website using the bidpath bidding system will be charged 22% + VAT (26.4% inclusive). If buying from the-saleroom.com the premium will be 24.95% + VAT (29.94% inclusive). Some auctions held by C&T Auctioneers and Valuers may have different premium rates, this will be clearly noted in printed catalogues or auction terms posted online, please make sure you check this before taking part in the auction.

Successful buyers will be sent an invoice via email or letter. Payment is requested within 7 days after the auction has ended. Payment methods accepted include cash in UK £’s sterling (up to the equivalent of €9,000 owing to money laundering regulations) Bank Transfer, Debit Cards and Visa / Mastercard credit cards, AMEX not accepted (We only can accept payments on credit cards for payments less than £500).

Failure to make payment within 14 days of the auction will result in your account being blocked and you will be restricted from bidding at C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd in the future.

Lot(s) which are not collected or shipped within 30 days of the auction will be placed in to storage and fees will be applied as stated in our terms and conditions.

Shipping

C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd offer an in house post and packing service for most auctions. Unfortunately we do not ship Toy Soldiers (the shipping for these can be conducted by couriers such as Mailboxes Tunbridge Wells or Jentel Packing) we are also not able to offer in house post and packing on invoice totals over £3,000, or for very fragile, large or heavy items. These items will also need to be shipped by specialist shippers.

Antique Guns are not able to be shipped by C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd or its recommended shippers, outside of the UK. If you wish to purchase antique guns from outside the UK then you will need to arrange your own collection and dispatch. We can assist in preparing items for shipping, however a fee will apply for this service.

All items are shipped at the risk of the buyer. C&T Auctioneers and Valuers Ltd are not responsible for any packages lost or damaged in transit following dispatch from our office.
