Part Time Auction House Product Photographer – Maternity Leave Cover

As the Auction House Product Photographer, you’ll be responsible for capturing high-quality images of lots for online listings and printed materials. We pride ourselves on providing detailed images for our Buyer’s so, alongside the description, they can bid confidently. As our client base is international, they rely on these images when deciding to bid on items.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Photograph a wide variety of items: Militaria, Vintage & Retro Toys, Coins, Jewellery, etc.
  • Ensure proper lighting, composition, background and colour accuracy while photographing items.
  • Process images, cropping, colour correction, retouching as needed in Photoshop
  • Name and organise files according to the internal cataloguing system
  • Work closely with the Cataloguing team to check items.
  • Upload edited images to the company’s software
  • Maintain photography studio/space, ensure equipment is in good working order and stock of consumables (batteries, memory cards, lighting gear) is maintained.
  • Work to tight deadlines (pre-sale deadlines for auctions), manage time efficiently, coordinate with other departments.
  • Maintain consistency in image style to match the company’s brand guidelines.
  • To assist with marketing – social media posts, printed materials etc under the direction of the marketing officer.
  • Occasionally travel to view/collection points or clients’ homes/locations to photograph items in situ if required.
  • Clerking live auctions.

Essential Skills & Experience: 

  • Experience in product photography (ideally in an auction house, art gallery, museum or e-commerce environment).
  • Strong technical photography skills: lighting, studio set-up, macro work, large objects.
  • Proficiency with photo editing software (Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop or equivalent).
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills, ability to work under deadline pressure and coordinate with other departments.
  • Good communication skills: ability to liaise with lead photographer and specialists.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full driving licence and own vehicle are essential due to remote location.

Hours & Benefits: 

  • 24 hours per week, 9am – 5pm, regular days to be decided.

Arms & Armour Auction Specialist

We are delighted to offer this new position due to the expansion of our Militaria department. The 

successful candidate will be responsible for producing at least two Fine Arms & Armour auctions in a 

calendar year.  

 

Duties will include: 

• Describe items for auction catalogue 

• Liaise with other team members to produce an auction 

• Meet with clients to gain consignments 

• Represent the company at exhibitions here in the UK and potentially internationally 

• Produce both written and verbal valuations of Arms & Armour 

• Other necessary auction duties 

 

The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate the following: 

• Good organisational skills 

• Full and clean driving license 

• Computer skills 

• Good knowledge of the subject matter and ideally a dedicated knowledge of a particular subject 

matter of arms & armour, such as Islamic and Indian weapons or Antique Guns etc.  

• Have a network of individuals who can assist them in their role 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

• The successful candidate must have a background in Arms & Armour, with auction house or trade 

experience. 

 

Location of Position: 

• The position is a hybrid position with office and home working available 

• Hours Monday – Friday with weekend work required at the request of the business or if required to 

be successful in the role.

 

Salary 

• Salary is based on experience – base wage with commission incentives.
