As one of the UK's leading specialist auction houses, C&T has the experience and the recognition to make selling at auction as smooth and as successful as possible for you.

At C&T we run a varied auction calendar, comprised of timed and live format online auctions. Both gain notable interest from collectors and this combination of formats makes it easier than ever to sell your items at auction to an audience all around the world. You can learn more about our timed auctions here.

How to sell at auction:

Step 1 - Receive a Valuation

It's never been easier to get a no-obligation, complimentary auction valuation.

Simply complete our online valuation form, or you can send 2-3 images, along with the details of your item(s) to our office team who will put you in contact with the relevant specialist.

Once our specialists have had a chance to review your enquiry, they will be in touch with an auction estimate. It is at this point that the specialist will also discuss reserves and potential auction dates.

Step 2 - Send us your Item

Once you've received a valuation and are happy to move ahead with entering your item into auction, the next step is getting your item to us.

If you're nearby, you can come to the office, any time Monday - Friday, 10:00 - 16:00, and a member of our team will fill out a consignment form with you.

Alternatively, if it's not practical to get to the C&T office, you can post your item to us. Once it arrives int eh office we will notify you and the specialist will email you a consignment receipt.

Step 3 - Cataloguing & Promotion

At this point you can put your feet up and our team will get busy cataloguing and promoting items. Each of our specialist departments is manned by a team of experts, who take every care to accurately represent each item at auction. We also have each item professionally photographed to best show off your item.

For many of our auctions, we send printed promotional catalogues/brochures to our database of clients, which includes international and national collectors! With the growth in internet promotion, we may select your item to have its own promotional campaign; this will include social media coverage through our Facebook, Instagram & our Youtube channel. We also often have national and international newspaper, magazine & TV coverage of lots sold through our auctions.

All of these services come at no extra cost - the only fee you will be charged is either £5.00 + VAT, or 20% + VAT (24% total) on the hammer price (whichever is greater). We pride ourselves on providing an exemplary professional service with no hidden costs.

Step 4 - Watch your Item at Auction

Prior to the auction, you will receive a Pre-Sale Advice document, which will confirm the date that your item(s) will be going under the hammer.

If your item has been entered into a live auction, you can watch your item(s) go under the hammer on the day via our livestream!

Alternatively, if your item is entered into one of our timed auctions, you can watch the bidding as it takes place over a couple if weeks. Be sure to tune in as the auction begins to close, because this is when the competitive bidding really kicks in!

Step 5 - Post Auction

In the days following the sale you will receive a statement detailing your lots and the hammer prices they have achieved at auction. Once we have received full payment on all of your lots from the buyers, payment will be forwarded to you minus our commission fees, usually within 30 working days after the sale.
