'Fudge The Fashionistas, Let Them Eat Cake'
16/09/2024 | Fenella Muldoon
Franco Moschino opened his Milanese fashion house in 1983. His playful designs often parodied the fashion industry, becoming highly fashionable pieces in themselves.
The 1996 handbag shown here was humorously named 'Fudge The Fashionistas, Let Them Eat Cake', the advertising campaign for which was shot in a bakery! The bag, made in ivory and dark brown leather, with metal zip and tag, and a chocolate brown leather strap, was adorned surrealistically with 'melted' chocolate. This delicious looking accessory was displayed in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
This delightful bag is coming up for auction with us in our Vintage Fashion & Luxury Goods timed sale, set to close Sunday 29th September 2024.
