The Mickey Mouse Mascot That Went To War

Lot 290 in our upcoming Fine Arms, Armour & Militaria Auction set to take place on 14th February 2024 is this Battle Damaged WW2 British Officers Peaked Cap of Guy Roussel and Ephemera. This lot includes his Mickey Mouse Mascot that went to war with him! A fascinating grouping of items belonging to Lieutenant Guy Roussel, Motor Transport section Royal Army Service Corps.

The very tired lucky mascot which he carried with him throughout WW2, being a cloth covered figure of Mickey Mouse, a charming but well worn item, is perhaps the star of the show. A set of photographs in the group shows this Mickey Mouse figure in the front lines, on a pile of foxhole earth and inked to the corner, 'Love to Minnie from Mickey xxxxx'.
