Buying at Auction
Buying at auction has become very easy over the last few years with the progression of live Internet bidding. Although it is great to come to the auction room, handle the lots and take part in the process of bidding live and battling with other bidders to buy the next item for your collection, we know it is not always easy to attend due to work or distance issues.

For those who still want to come to the auction room, we do cater for you. Our viewing is open from 09:00 am on the morning of the auction, and you can view throughout the length of the auction. We know many of you have traveled some distance, so we do provide complimentary Tea and Coffee.
To bid live in the auction room, you will have to register with us on the day, you will be given a paddle number, this number must be given to the auctioneer if you are successful in purchasing a lot(s). You can also leave an absentee bid with C&T Auctioneers and Valuers, the auctioneer will then bid on your behalf, up to the maximum bid instructed. We do request all absentee bids to be left at least 24 hours prior to the auction. We cannot be held responsible for any mistakes made due to human or technical errors. If two identical bids are left one one item, the first bid entered will be the successful bid.
If you wish to bid live online at one of our auctions, you will need to register with www.the-saleroom.com, you can register anytime, even when the auction has already started. We would however recommend you register at least 24 hours prior to the auction commencing. Bidding live has become very easy, however problems can occur very occasionally, and this is out of our hands. For more details on how to bid live we would recommend visiting www.the-saleroom.com and looking at the tutorial videos.
All successful bids are subject to buyers premium, this is charged at 20% + VAT (24% inclusive) for buyers in the auction room or bids left with the auctioneer. Buyers bidding live on the internet will be charged 23% + VAT (27.6% inclusive). Some auctions held by C&T Auctioneers and Valuers may have different premium rates, this will be clearly noted in printed catalogues or auction terms posted online, please make sure you check this and other terms before taking part in the auction.
Bids may be placed via telephone and a representative from C&T Auctioneers will bid on a buyers behalf. Please make sure all telephone bids are booked within 24 hours of the auction date. Telephone bids are only accepted for items with an estimate of £100 + We will call you four to five lots prior to the lot being offered for auction. There is no charge for telephone bidding .C&T Auctioneers can’not guarantee that all telephone requests will be honoured due to the rising demand for telephone bidding, it may be impossible to have a line available, we cannot be held responsible for any missed calls due to human or technical errors.
C&T Auctioneers and Valuers produce illustrated catalogues for each auction they hold. Price of catalogue vary from sale to sale, so please contact the office regarding the catalogue you are interested in. Price varies from £7.50 through to £20 + p&p.
If you wish to receive a years subscription to either the Vintage Toy or Militaria auction (4 catalogues) the charge is £35 within the UK, £45 within the EU and £50 outside of the EU, for catalogue that are usually £7.50, special edition catalogues there will be a higher subscription price.
Years Subscription to our Memorabilia and Antique / Collectables catalogues (2 catalogues) £15 within UK, £20 within EU and £24 outside the EU.

Successful buyers will be sent an invoice via email, (see section below regarding shipping). Payment is requested within 7 days of the invoice being sent. Payment can be made by Cash in UK £’s sterling (not over £3,000), Cheque (subject to clearance before dispatch of goods), Credit Cards (2% surcharge for non-EU), UK Debit Cards, International Debit Cards (2% surcharge for non-EU), Bank Transfer (all fees must be paid, international transfers subject to £6 fee)
Postage & Shipping
With the increase in UK & International bidding via the internet, we at C&T Auctioneers post out approx 75% of an auction. This is done currently in house. Due to the number of parcels that have to be packed and weighed, this can sometimes take a bit of time. If you have been successful with an absentee or internet bid you will automatically be quoted a shipping quote. You do not have to accept this quote and you are more than welcome to visit our office and collect in person, or you can arrange for your own shipping company to collect. If lots have to be prepared for shipping then a fee will be applied for this.
It can take up to 5 working days to have all invoices sent out with shipping quotes and is done on a buyer number order.
